The Knight of Columbus is a fraternal organization founded in 1882 to preserve and defend the Catholic Church from persecution. It is the largest organization of men in the world. The Knight of Columbus provides millions of dollars in funding to the Holy Father to help continue his mission as the leader of the Catholic Church.
We are a fraternal organization of Catholic men dedicated to Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Our council of the Knights of Columbus # 11366, was founded in 1994 at the parish of Our Savior Catholic Church, 1801 S. Cody Road, Mobile AL, and currently has 90 members. We are a very active council, which can always use a few more good men to help us with the many activities we undertake throughout the year. If you would like to get involved with our council, please contact our Grand Knight, Mike Smitherman 366-9788, show up to one of our scheduled events or feel free to ask a fellow Knight before or after mass for details.
Our council meets in the parish hall on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. We hold monthly Bar-B-Que Dinners after the masses on the second weekend of each month, and Lenten dinners on each Friday evening during the Lenten Season. Our council’s annual Tootsie Roll drive raises money for children with mental disabilities. We also volunteer our time and talents at the Little Sisters of the Poor Annual Lawn Party each fall. Come join the fun, fellowship and brotherhood that is the Knights of Columbus.

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Fraternal Service Organization founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney. The First through Third Degree Knights of Columbus organization is rooted in the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. Our Savior’s KoC Council 11366 supports many community and parish events including small construction projects for the church property, hosting great meals throughout the year as well as any other general community services within their means such as helping to direct traffic during local Marathons. Money is collected by a small yearly dues collection from its members and other fundraising ventures such as the annual Tootsie Roll drive held at local businesses and community street intersections. Monies collected go primarily to various mentally handicapped organizations and other outreach programs such as the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Our KoC meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in Jennings Hall.

The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus is based on the principles of love, devotion and patriotism to one’s country. The Assembly meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. During special events such as Christmas Mass, both within our Parish and the Archdiocese, the Knights provide an Honor Guard in their full regalia. The Fourth Degree KoC is also an integral part of the Third Degree organization and helps support all of its functions.
The Ladies Auxiliary is a group of women 18 years and up and meets quarterly or as needed. We are a group of ladies who help promote fellowship and service here at Our Savior. We help support the Knight of Columbus with their Lenten Dinners, Angel Tree, Neighbor Center and the Box of Joy Programs. Socials are planned 3 or 4 times a year. There are no requirements to be part of this group of Ladies.
Father Michael J. McGivney was a 29-year-old assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn., when he founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882. Father McGivney’s cause for canonization was opened in 1997 by then Archbishop Daniel A. Cronin of Hartford, Conn. Its diocesan phase has been completed. The Congregation for the Causes of Saints at the Vatican is currently reviewing Father McGivney’s life and works and investigating two reported miracles attributed to his intercession.
The Knights of Columbus has established the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild to provide people with information about his life, works and spirituality.
