RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

RCIA is an inquiry process for adults seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church. The program begins with a process of inquiry and, through weekly gatherings, leads those interested through a period of study and reflection on the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. The process culminates at the Easter Vigil. Contact Jan Murray at (251) 633-6762, ext. 206 or via email for more information.

RCIC (Right of Christian Initiation of Children)

This Rite is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are eight years old or more, but not yet adults and want to be baptized and/or come into full communion with the Church.

THE SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

The sacraments of Christian initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist – lay the foundations of every Christian life. “The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity.”
