Liturgy Committee
April 13, 2010
Deacon
Steve opened the meeting at 7:05 with a prayer. Members present were Fr.
Tokarz, Brenda Holderfield, Elvia
and Tom Wilson.
Palm
Sunday:
Decorated on Saturday vice last Friday of Lent. Microphone system was frustrating
when on the outside speakers. Issue resolved with Modern Sound. “Hosanna”
worked great. We had the right amount of palms (13 Bags). Fan Palms (8) were
correct amount also.
***When
both deacons serve we need to schedule one less Lector for the Passion,
and one less Minister of Communion.***
**Assign
a Captain for Triduum services.**
Holy
Thursday:
Foot washing went well, however, people were sitting on their towels &
Deacon Steve missed who was next and where they were sitting. The use of
regular hosts went well. The Procession and the Chapel of repose in Jennings
Hall was a hit. Lots of great work in set-up and preparation for this solemn
event. Taize chant helped since no one needed to look
at a book in the dark. It was noted that the procession needs to gather itself
at some point so stragglers can catch up. The stripping of the altar went
smoothly and quietly. We didn’t need as many people.
Good
Friday:
Veneration went well with 2 lines of people. Seemed to move right along. New
cross was a good addition. Would like to have the red cloths attached
differently. Also we need to find a home for this Cross-throughout the Easter
season. Recommended to put it in the Devotional area and dress with a white
cloth during the Gloria at the Vigil.
Easter
Vigil:
Lights? Flashlights? All seemed well until we needed lighting for the choir and
Fr. for the prayers and responses. Need to mark panel better. We need to have a
fire extinguisher available at the fire-pit. The Exultet
went very good. Deacon Steve hit it in the dark. The Lectors were very good and
the responses fit in with all the readings. It was a good idea not to gather
the congregation for the Baptisms. Everyone was able to view them better from
their pews. They were all happy to be invited up to bless themselves
afterwards. The sponsors need to move around to the receiving side of the pool
before the baptisms begin. We need more bath mats. Would like to see the Litany
of Saints speed up. The foot-pedal for the keyboard seemed to be making strange
sounds. Can’t get it to do it again so it can be fixed!?! Next year we will
include sponsors with the neophytes at communion.
Easter
Sunday: More
ushers needed (6). 2 to greet; 2 to seat; 2 to set-up chairs as needed.
Over
all the Triduum went very well.
Next
on the calendar is the First Communion celebration at 11:00 on Saturday May 8th.
The May Crowning will take place that same weekend before each of the masses.
