Knights of Columbus
The Knight of Columbus is a fraternal organization founded in 1882 to preserve and defend the Catholic Church from persecution. It is the largest organization of men in the world. The Knight of Columbus provides millions of dollars in funding to the Holy Father to help continue his mission as the leader of the Catholic Church. See Web Site for more information.
We are a fraternal organization of Catholic men dedicated to Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Our council of the Knights of Columbus # 11366, was founded in 1994 at the parish of Our Savior Catholic Church, 1801 S. Cody Road, Mobile AL, and currently has 90 members. We are a very active council, which can always use a few more good men to help us with the many activities we undertake throughout the year. If you would like to get involved with our council, please contact our Grand Knight, Andrew Bouchard at 251-751-3887, show up to one of our scheduled events or feel free to ask a fellow Knight before or after mass for details.
Our council meets in the parish hall on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. We hold monthly Bar-B-Que Dinners after the masses on the second weekend of each month, and Lenten dinners on each Friday evening during the Lenten Season. Our council's annual Tootsie Roll drive raises money for children with mental disabilities. We also volunteer our time and talents at the Little Sisters of the Poor Annual Lawn Party each fall. Come join the fun, fellowship and brotherhood that is the Knights of Columbus.
Father McGivney
Father Michael J. McGivney was a 29-year-old assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Conn., when he founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882. The Congregation for the Causes of Saints at the Vatican is currently reviewing Father McGivney’s life and works and investigating two reported miracles attributed to his intercession.
The Knights of Columbus has established the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild to provide people with information about his life, works and spirituality. If you are interested in joining the Father McGivney Guild, please visit the Father McGivney Web site.
